As a child, my family called me the daring one—the risk taker. I think that willingness to take risks and my optimism have served me well in life and all my creative endeavors.
An idea or inspiration would come and I would create a way to accomplish it. Nothing seemed impossible. As the youngest of three children, and with parents that encouraged and embraced change, I became fiercely independent.
Art has been in my life as long as I can remember. From the art in museums I visited with my parents and the art in our home. I attended The American School of Art in Los Angeles, when I was 13 and it is there that I first started studying the art of mark making.
Since then, I have channeled my energies into the arts; drawing, painting and dancing. Yet, it wasn’t until I had a health crisis later in life, that put me into hospital, for a 22-hour brain surgery, that I asked myself, “What am I waiting for?” I was living in the Boston area at the time and a superb medical team told me my tumor was both benign and operable. After the surgery, they also told me my recovery was remarkable and that I was not the typical brain tumor patient.
This was a pivotal moment in my life. I realize that now was the time to do what I loved. After several years of study and practice I began to sell my work.
I now live in England and have a wonderful studio where I draw, paint and teach. I enjoy a rural life with my artist husband, Gordon and our cat Woody.
